The Facts

Participating will be teams of tweens and teens (our goal is 1000 kids or more).
Each kid must get atleast 10 pledges for a minimum of $10 each. kids are encouraged to get as many pledges for as much money as possible to compete for prizes.
On Tuesday, May 12th, 2009 each SurfTaco location (along with Monmouth Medical Center) will be utilized as a base venue for the 1000+ participants of the "Text for Ten" event. At 6pm they will simultaneously text their pledges for donations.
Each team will have two co-captains and an adult supervisor who will attend the
kick off party at SurfTaco in Belmar on Tuesday, March 24th, 2009. Prior to the event, Team captains and their adult supervisors are responsible for assuring their team fullfills its goal of getting their minium number of pledges and for collecting all donations.

The Prizes

Top School Team
- A school dance for all your classmates, including food from Surf Taco and a DJ

Top Small Group
- A party at Surf Taco for up to 30 team participants with live music by IRIE Sound

- 2 hour Art is Good creative workshop at the SurfTaco Gallery in Belmar

Top Individual Prizes

- 28" flat screen LCDHD TV donated by Fidelity Mortgage

- $250 scholarships donated by Central Jersey Bank
- $100 shopping spree at Rising Sun Surf Shop
- Custom surfboard from Rising Sun Surf Shop
- Tacos for 10 people from Surf Taco
- $25 gift certificates from Surf Taco

The Cause
Text for 10 benefits the David S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey including support programs for children of patients with brain tumors or children who have lost a loved one to a brain tumor. In addition, the event will support national advocacy efforts to aid families and identify environmental and lifestyle causes.
